International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association (IBJJA) is an international organization dedicated to preserving and promoting high-quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through instructor education, professional development, ethical standards, and technical excellence. Founded in 2005, IBJJA focuses not only on producing successful competitors but also on developing qualified instructors who can teach safely, professionally, and effectively to students of all ages and goals.

Today, IBJJA includes a growing network of affiliated schools across North America, South America, and Europe. Participating academies range from dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools to multi-discipline martial arts centers that offer Jiu-Jitsu alongside Judo, Wrestling, Sambo, Kickboxing, and Self-Defense programs. All affiliated schools share a commitment to maintaining high teaching standards, fostering respectful training environments, and using martial arts as a tool for personal development, confidence building, physical fitness, and community service.

Through seminars, instructor camps, certification programs, conferences, and online education, IBJJA continues to support coaches and school owners in delivering quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to future generations.

The IBJJA was founded in 2005. After Professor Renato had traveled to the USA, he began his journey in Europe, competing in the European BJJ championship in Portugal. After the tournament, lots of seminars were performed in Europe, beginning in Portugal, then England, and Germany, where Professor Renato met his first non-Brazilian-born Black Belt, Michael Hockenjos. After that trip, Professor Renato came back several times to Europe, and every time, more people joined the Association. Now, Professor Renato has over 50 black belts in his lineage.
